Below are some frequently asked questions

  • How does your fee structure work?

    Fees are calculated as a percentage of payments received. Unlike other providers that charge on turnover, we believe the job is only complete when your money is in your bank account. The agreed percentage is negotiated with you prior to our services commencing.


    We are therefore committed to bill accurately and recover fees speedily. “Doctor, if you don’t get paid, we don’t get paid!”

  • Are there any hidden fees?

    With SIMS Medical Bureau you can be sure that there are no hidden fees or charges lurking in the fine print.


    Join SIMS and eliminate these direct practice costs often not considered:

    • A professional person to do your billing
    • Stationery and printing costs
    • Software and EDI switching fees to medical aids
    • Telephone costs for follow-up on outstanding amounts with patients and medical aids

    ITC listings and even client information forms, customized to your practice, is all included in the pre-agreed percentage structure.

  • How does SIMS collect my data?

    SIMS takes pride in working in a paperless environment and we prefer receiving all work electronically. You can submit your billing on any of the below communications platforms:

    • Email
    • Dropbox
    • Google Drive
    • Fax to email 
    • WhatsApp images

    If you do not have access to the Internet or any of the above communication platforms, we will gladly arrange a courier to pick up and return your work. 

  • What is the time-frame of managing and returning my data?

    Once we receive your data, it is immediately allocated to your account administrator who then have 48 hours to submit to medical aids and contact patients on all rejected claims. 

  • What reports can I expect?

    An end-of-day report is returned to your practice along with your data. At the end of every month, we provide you with a Debtors Age Analysis, an in-depth Practice Turnover report and a detailed patient list with our recorded comments. Customized reports are available on request.

  • What if I have queries?

    You will have a dedicated account administrator attending to all your concerns and queries. Should you be dissatisfied with the service you receive, you can contact the practice manager directly or email info@sims.co.za.

  • Does the SIMS service require additional work for my accountant?

    No, as a matter of fact, our reports are of such a standard that they can be given directly to your accountants at month end and it will make their job easier.

  • How often is my patient list contacted?

    Each doctor's entire patient list is phoned on a monthly basis and we record comments related directly from the patient and medical aid, supplying you with this detailed patient list report at the end of every month.
